Netflix has increasingly gained recognition for its original programming, recently garnering Emmy nominations and accolades for titles like Orange is the New Black and Making a Murderer. In its latest venture, the streaming service is set to unveil an original film titled XOXO, which centers on the vibrant culture of dance music. Excitement has been building around this project, particularly due to the involvement of dance music legend Pete Tong, who takes on the roles of producer and Music Supervisor for the film.
The narrative of XOXO revolves around a group of fans making their way to a fictional music festival, the largest of its kind in the U.S., called XOXO, as well as the experiences of a debut DJ attempting to reach the event. The cast features talents such as Sarah Hyland from Modern Family, Graham Phillips from The Good Wife, Brett DelBuono, and Colin Woodell of Masters of Sex.
The soundtrack promises to deliver a mix of fresh tracks, highlighted by “All I Ever Wanted” from Michael Brun and “Make Me Feel” by Galantis & East & Young. The latter track is available for instant download in advance of the complete soundtrack’s launch, which will be released by Big Beat Records on August 26th.
XOXO marks the second significant film focusing on dance music culture following the less successful We Are Your Friends released in 2015.
