The sold-out 5th annual Timbuck2Forever tribute hosted by the Timothy Francis Jones Foundation at the House of Blues Chicago honored the legacy of the iconic Chicago DJ, evoking a tremendous display of admiration and affection. This gathering united numerous DJs who mesmerized an audience filled with ardent fans of the Chicago Hip-Hop scene. Notable DJs such as OZone and Jay Illa skillfully blended hip-hop classics, while Treated Crew’s Boi Jeanius announced his reimagining of “Go ill radio,” a syndicated program originally created by Timbuck2 to spotlight Chicago talent. Additionally, Boi Jeanius paved the way for emerging artists like Mother Nature and Nic Junior to share the stage with seasoned performers Rockie Fresh and Mikkey Halsted in a heartfelt tribute. The night was made even more special with surprise appearances from DJ Maseo of De La Soul and Wu-Tang Clan members Ghostface Killah and Killah Priest, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
Established following Timbuck2’s tragic passing in 2015 due to kidney cancer, the Timothy Francis Jones Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about health maintenance within targeted communities. Their mission includes combatting negative cultural stereotypes regarding health care visits. This year’s event marked the introduction of the foundation’s sneaker collaboration with Puma, which also generously contributed $2500 to the Timothy Francis Jones Foundation. Tim’s mother received the donation on stage, delivering uplifting and heartfelt messages to the audience.
