UK garage legend DJ EZ is stepping up to rekindle some hope in humanity by presenting his second 24-hour livestreamed DJ session this Saturday, January 23, at 6 PM GMT (1 PM EST) from the Defected Records headquarters, with all earnings directed to the mental health charity MIND. Historically, the roles of a musician and a good citizen have often seemed at odds, making it truly inspiring to see this notion being challenged and overturned.
The first marathon session DJ EZ undertook was back in March 2020, during a time when we were blithely sharing memes about Covid, mocking its seriousness, and were blissfully unaware of our vulnerability. That live set, hosted from EZ’s home, provided much-needed relief during the initial lockdown, an uncertain time full of confusion. While that first set was crucial for its moment, the forthcoming one promises to be even more significant. Many people are stretched to their limits, frustrated by the ongoing mismanagement from those in charge, and looking for a way to decompress.
