Steve Lacy has revealed plans to share with his fans The Lo-Fis, a compilation featuring unreleased tracks he created during his high school years. This collection will include a variety of leaks, previously unheard demos, and instrumental pieces.
Since the debut of his first album, Apollo XXI, Lacy has demonstrated his ability to produce exceptional music beyond his work with The Internet. The release of Apollo XXI showcased his versatility as a musician, while also highlighting his vocal talent, which was further emphasized by his increased vocal contributions to The Internet’s latest album, Hive Mind.
Given that The Lo-Fis draws from his earlier years, the collection is likely to reflect the vibe similar to his 2017 EP, Steve Lacy’s Demo. His initial sound was characterized by a laid-back R&B style coupled with straightforward yet captivating lyrics. During this early phase, he impressively crafted his beats using an iPhone and the GarageBand app, achieving a studio-quality sound that hinted at his burgeoning talent.
The announcement of The Lo-Fis has generated significant excitement among fans, eager to access some of their favorite leaked tracks through official streaming. The collection is set to be released on December 4.
